Igor Petrushevski

Igor Petrushevski is a violin professor at the Royal Academy of Music. He was born in Belgrade Yugoslavia in 1969. From an early age he has showed outstanding abilities having won all the national competitions in Yugoslavia. He moved to Moscow aged 14 to study under the best teachers of the Moscow Conservatory. Whilst in the Conservatory he won numerous prizes including 1st Prize in the Ochrid International Music Competition and also performed in all the major concert halls all over Russia. He gave performances with various chamber and Symphony orchestras including a televised performance with the Skopje Philharmonia. After his graduation from the Moscow Conservatory, he continued his studies as a postgraduate under full scholarship with Professor Yfrah Neaman at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.
 
For the last twenty years he has been giving concerts all over the world. Critically acclaimed performances have taken him all over Europe (Finland, Russia, Yugoslavia, Italy, Austria, UK, France) Asia (China and Singapore) and North America.
Petrushevski has made many televised performances, including a documentary film about his life that has been broadcast world wide on satellite television. Since moving to the UK ten years ago, he has been invited to teach and perform at various prestigious venues and festivals in England and abroad. He has played concerts and given master classes at the Musical Summer of Frensham Heights International Music Festival, the London Oratory International Music Festival, the Beijing Conservatory, the Allegro Vivo Festival in Austria and many others. He is an artistic of the London International Violin Competition. His passionate and sincere performances have won him much critical acclaim and made him an important figure in the UK music firmament.
 
He has established himself as one of the leading violin teachers in UK. Amongst his students are top prize winners of various national and international violin competitions including: N.Paganini, J. Thibeau, Tibor Varga, Rodolfo Lipizer, Tokyo, Cologne etc. Many of them have played in major venues throughout the world and recorded for radio, television and made numerous CDs. He is a resident jury member of the London International Violin Competition and the Allegro Vivo Competition, Austria. He teaches at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Purcell School of Music. He performs on Stradivarius and Guarnieri violins and permanently plays on a Joseph Rocca violin of 1884.
